Nigerians Demand Buhari’s Impeachment With #ImpeachBuhari

Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to demand President Muhammadu Buhari‘s impeachment.
Curtrend reports that the demand by Nigerians is in response to the impeachment of President Donald Trump of the United States by the US House of Representatives.
This online news platform recalls that Trump impeached by the United States House of Representatives for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
The House of Representatives impeached Trump at exactly 8:23 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday following a fierce debate and vote on two articles of impeachment against him after weeks of testimony related to his dealings with Ukraine.
This online news platform understands that the House voted 230-197 to impeach Trump for abusing his power in his dealings with Ukraine and voted 229-198 for obstruction of justice. Both articles of impeachment were passed.
House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, who kicked off formal impeachment debate on Wednesday, in a lengthy speech called impeachment “one of the most solemn powers this body can take.”
“No member, regardless of political or party, comes to Congress to impeach a president,” said Pelosi.
Speaker Pelosi noted that Trump had pursued an “improper personal benefit” at “the expense of our national security,” which “gave us no choice” but to impeach.
Hours after Trump’s impeachment, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to demand Buhari’s impeachment, with some saying if impeachment could occur thrice in the US, then it can happen in Nigeria for the first time.

POLITICSAmosun: Oshiomhole Reacts As Akinlade Returns To Ogun APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has commended the decision of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade to return to the APC.

Naija News reports that Akinlade, who was the Ogun state governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2019 election, was backed by former governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

He contested the general election against the candidate of the APC and current governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun.

Akinlade, however, returned to the ruling party on Monday after failing to remove the governor through the Supreme Court.

Reacting to the APM’s Guber candidates return to the APC, Oshiomhole, in a statement by his spokesperson, Simon Ebegbulem, urged Akinlade to work with Abiodun is moving the state forward.

“As a party, we are glad that the National Reconciliation Committee (NRC) set up recently by the party is yielding fruits. We welcome these party men and women and we urge them to join in this progressive governance which the APC promised Nigerians,” he said.

“The APC is one big family that believes in the ideals of true democracy, rule of law and party supremacy.

“We also want to use this opportunity to urge other members of our party who left and wish to return, to do so, as our party is big enough to accommodate all, even those with divergent opinions. This is what makes it a progressive party.

“I want to assure you that in the spirit of national reconciliation, our brothers are welcome and will be accorded all the privileges that is the preserve of all party members.”
