We will give attention to development of satellite towns – FCT Minister, Wike

In a recent address during the inauguration of Mandate Secretaries for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration, Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT, emphasized the administration's commitment to prioritize the development of satellite towns within the region. This declaration underscores the importance of extending prosperity and well-being beyond the city center, ensuring that every corner of the FCT experiences progress and development.

During the inauguration ceremony, several Mandate Secretaries were sworn in to assume crucial roles within the FCT Administration. These distinguished individuals include Mr. Bitrus Garki, who will serve as the Secretary of the Area Council Services Secretariat, Mr. Lawan Geidam, appointed as Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, and Mr. Danlami Ihayyo, entrusted with the role of Secretary of the Education Secretariat. Additionally, Adedolapo Fasawe was appointed Secretary of the Health and Environment Services Secretariat, Mr. Salman Dako as Secretary of the Legal Services Secretariat, and Mr. Chinedum Elechi as Secretary of Economic Planning, Revenue Generation, and Public Private Partnership. Mr. Uboku Nyah also assumed the role of Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat.

Minister Wike emphasized the crucial role these Mandate Secretaries play in addressing various issues affecting service delivery within the FCT Administration, with a particular focus on streamlining the procurement process. He emphasized that transparency, efficiency, and accountability must be the foundational principles of their administration. As they embark on this transformative journey, they are not just advisors but leaders and implementers of policies, entrusted with the task of translating the administration's vision into tangible actions that will shape the future of the FCT.

Wike further highlighted the administration's mission, which includes enhancing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through innovative methods to secure the necessary funds for ambitious development projects and initiatives. This financial aspect is crucial in supporting the administration's goals.

One of the critical challenges that the Minister identified is the state of public transportation in the FCT. He stressed that no modern city can function effectively and efficiently without a reliable and comprehensive public transportation system. This underscores the administration's commitment to addressing this issue comprehensively as part of its development agenda. In conclusion, Minister Nyesom Wike's address serves as a testament to the administration's dedication to holistic progress and the well-being of all FCT residents, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and the importance of addressing critical challenges such as public transportation.
