A devastating building collapse has occurred in Nomansland Faage Local Government Area of Kano State, resulting in the loss of two lives. The incident happened on Thursday at around 2am during a heavy downpour, which caused the building to collapse due to the overflow of a nearby waterway.
Rescue Efforts Underway
The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of two persons and rescued two others alive, who have been taken to the hospital for treatment. The rescue operation is ongoing, with emergency responders working to save anyone else trapped under the debris.
Cause of the Collapse
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, the building collapsed due to its proximity to the waterway, which overflowed during the heavy rainfall.
Flooding Devastates Kano State
This tragic incident comes on the heels of severe flooding in Kano State, which has already claimed 31 lives and destroyed 5,280 houses, according to the Kano State Emergency Management Agency. The state is grappling with the aftermath of the floods, and this building collapse has only added to the devastation.
